They sat with one another a little longer as he told her about Poppy and Miss Rose’s interaction upon his arrival. Delphi laughed and then yawned behind her hand, signaling to him that she was in need of rest. “I shall come tomorrow if that is agreeable to you, Delphi.” She nodded her head, as he reached out to take her hand. He brought her hand to his mouth, kissing it gently, before returning it to the bed.

“That would be very agreeable, Nate. I shall look forward to tomorrow then. She scooted further into the bed and settled herself there, as he turned to leave, a smile stretched across his face. He left the room and said his farewells to the butler, before heading back to his home.

As he approached the front gates, he noticed two carriages parked at the front. Who the devil was visiting now? A scowl returned to his face as he watched the servants as they removed the trunks from the carriages. This had better not be some annoying friend of Tav’s. He hadn’t the patience to deal with two ignoramuses. Botheration, he barely had the wherewithal for dealing with one.
